Syria conflict (File Image)
Syria is once more submerged in chaos as fierce clashes among security officials and supporters of ousted President Bashar al-Assad have resulted in more than 1,000 fatalities over the last two days. The ongoing clashes represent one of the deadliest phases of violence the country has witnessed since the last 14 years with the global world raising its eyebrow in serious alarm.
Assad loyalists ambushed Syrian security forces in a surprise attack on Thursday, unleashing a merciless shower of bullets. The battle created general devastation, and Damascus and many other regions came under heavy attacks. Witnesses referred to a terrifying scene of ongoing gunfire echoing across streets as corpses lined the streets afterward.

The clashes have escalated to a crisis level, with civilians in the middle and many displaced from their homes. Reports are coming in that hospitals and emergency responders are having it harder to cope with the increasing numbers of casualties.
The mounting bloodshed has attracted universal condemnation by global leaders and international human rights organizations. Experts say the war is not likely to cool down, and alarm is being raised about Syria plunging further into anarchy in the coming days.
International onlookers are calling for swift action to halt the violence and stabilize the region. But as the tensions are at boiling point and the combat rages, it is by no means certain that there will be a resolution to the crisis.
